Item Description
An impresssive and important large cadmium-rich smithsonite specimen from the limited finds at the famous San Antonio Mine at Santa Eulalia in the early 1980s. Greenish-yellow, waxy luster, translucent bubbly botryoids comprise this dramatic and very sculptural large piece. It looks like a yellow fish! The seams of red iron oxides add contrast and pizzazz. The thin banded yellow crust lies on a banded crust of gray smithsonite. Specimens of this size and quality from this find are RARE and highly desirable. Ex Kerry Cooper Collection. His label says the El Refugio Mine at Choix, Sinaloa, Mexico, but the label on the free custom-made and engraved lucite. valued at $225, is correct. A significant large San Antonio Mine smithsonite valued at $4000-5000.
