Item Description
An impressive, colorful and very sculptural large smithsonite from the famous San Antonio Mine at Santa Eulalia. Rich golden yellow translucent variably sized bubbly botryoids with satin luster cover the dramatically mounded piece. The two striking rounded "mountains" really add pizzazz to this piece. Periphery wear on the sides reveals that the interior smithsonite is massive glassy-grey above the silicified limestone matrix. An exceptional and outstanding large specimen from the 1980s finds from the San Antonio Mine. Classic smithsonite from this mine. The yellow color is probably due to trace amounts of cadmium (a rare varietal of the species). Comes with a custom-made and engraved lucite base valued at $235, for free. This is a significant, important large and rare yellow San Antonio Mine smithsonite valued at $2500-3000.
