Large Silver Ore slab, Ex. Art Soregaroli (1.1 kilos)

This is a rich, hefty, silvery piece of massive silver ore. You would not expect it to weight nearly 3 pounds looking at it, but it does (1100 grams)! As we cleaned out some old boxes obtained in the purchase of the Soregaroli Collection (Vancouver), we found this specimen tucked away with other smaller items in an old box of Art Soregaroli's thesis and study material, all specimens from the Beaverdell mine in Canada where he did so much work and field collecting (60 years ago and more!). In person, this is a really beautiful bronzy surface, polished on one side, and naturally rough on the back. It is thick and dense. It does show some incipient cracks, but no crack goes through, and it is not repaired. We think this is a fairly significant example of the rich silver ore from this classic location, and as such it is both a specimen and a bit of history.
