Item Description

An unusually large, and very rich, silver-dominant halfbreed nugget with minor copper, from Copper Country - halfbreeds form rarely when molten silver and copper get bound together, without alloying or intermixing. Nuggets like this, so far as I know, only came from old Michigan mines. The sculptural wedge of bright, mostly massive to euhedral silver has only a modest amount of bright copper on one side and very little on the other. There is far more coverage of the complimentary green epidote on both sides, than copper. This is a classic, old-time and rare halfbreed in this richness of silver. 312 grams or about 10 troy ounces. Current silver price is $32.94/troy ounce. This piece has over $250 of bullion value. Specimen value of this rarity is 2-4 times more
