Item Description
An impressive large tapered trigonal schorl crystal from the Fano Mine. The highly lustrous, well-striated parallel-growth prism is nicely accented with embedded tiny muscovite plates below the matte-lustre pyramidal termination. This more obscure pegmatite mine in Riverside County, not famous San Diego County, is well-known for fine schorl specimens, such as this. It is probably from the 1980s finds. Complete all-around and in great shape overall for such a large crystal. The two clean repairs are certanly acceptable in the context of pegmatite species. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. A showy and excellent large 360-degree schorl with muscovite. With his access and fondness for decades of selfcollecting in this area, we assume he selfcollected it.
