Item Description

A spectacular and very rare large schorl crystal is dramatically set on pegmatite matrix from this obscure granite pegmatite feldspar mine. The striking, complete all-around, sharply terminated, lustrous, well-striated, trigonal crystal is 15.2 cm long and is in great shape. The bit of termination edge wear is noted, but has very minimal impact to the quality of this impressive, large New Hampshire rarity. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection, and collected by him decades ago. The base has been sawed to enhance the considerable display quality and it is really imposing on the shelf - especially for a USA schorl! It is heavy at 1622 grams mass or 3.6 pounds. We do not think it is repaired, and there is not fluorescene due to glue, so it seems remarkably intact! Value to the locality or species collector???
