Large Schorl (fine - Herb Obodda Coll.)

Item Description

A remarkable large 360-degree schorl from Shigar. The impressive, sculptural, parallel-growth stepped jet-black crystals have splendent columnar prism faces and glassy termination faces. Embedded feldspar and muscovite on the sides and the same matrix on the bottom adds much contrast and pizzazz. Every turn presents a distinctively different visual perspective. Complete all-around and essentially pristine. A bit of contacting, lower on the side of the large prism, has no damage, per se. This specimen is significant for its aesthetic form, and lack of the usual repairs on such large pieces. Ex Herb Obodda Collection and valued by Herb at $2000... 13 years ago. This is NOT a typical schorl, and is really impressive in person.
