large Rhodochrosite xl w/ Calcite

Item Description

An excellent large Chinese rhodochrosite crystal strikingly accented with calcite rhombs. This large, flattened, spearpoint-shaped rhomb has excellent luster, translucency and bright rose-red color. The primary faces are lightly frosted on both sides. The termination on the calcite side is pristine. The lower right edge on the back side is cleaved and there may be a bit more cleaving going up this edge, but it's hard to tell. Irregardless, the frontal view is very fine and with the closing of the mine, such pieces will only become more valuable, as Sweet Home pieces are. The crystal GLOWS, when backlit.
