Item Description

Dramatically sculptural "rabbit ears" pair of large smoky quartz crystals beautifully accented with smaller crystals at the base from Corinto. The different size of the "ears" adds to the overall aesthetics and visual aspect of the piece. All of the light smoky, glassy crystals are water-clear. The termination faces of the large prisms are glass-clear with the satin luster prism faces accented with stepped-growth and variable amounts of included iron oxides. The smaller crystals have mostly glass-clear faces with fewer satin luster faces. This impressive 360-degree is pristine. The Corinto area is well-known for excellent quartz specimens from the sandstones diggings here. These crystals look in appearance to those produced from the sandstones in the well-known Hot Springs area of Arkansas. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. An outstanding large smoky quartz from the locale. Better in person.
