Item Description

An impressive, very rare, perhaps UNIQUE large crystallized quartz cluster from a most obscure mine in Nevada County, California - the Klondike Mine. Crystallized quartz is VERY RARE from ANY of the numerous old lode or places gold mines of Nevada County. MINDAT does not list a Klondike Mine for the county. A striking, pristine, upright 13.8 cm doubly terminated crystal dominates this scultpural 360-degree cluster of intergrown lustrous, glassy, transparent to translucent crystals. Part of one out-of-sight side of the large crystal is contacted, where another crystal once lay, but there is no damage, per se. Overall, the piece is in great shape for the crystal density. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020.
