Pyrolusite specimens of this impressive size and richness are RARE from the historic manganese deposits at Ilfeld! This dramatic large piece is a solid vein of dense sprays of metallic pyrolusite lathes which opens into a striking large and sculptural vug lined with terminated pyrolusite crystals. An important and rare large specimen from this famous locale. This old piece came out in about 1865-1890. 4.4 pounds or 2 kilos mass. Valued at $1500-1750 for size, quality and rareness.
