Large Pyrite & Quartz (New Find)

An outstanding and aesthetic large pyrite and quartz combination from the NEW July, 2015 find at this well-known mine. Stunning, mirror-bright, fabulously striated, silver-metallic pyrite cubes, to 4.7 cm, are dramatically clustered atop the large massive quartz matrix plate covered with sprays of glassy quartz points. Overall, the piece is in excellent condition, given the size and the crystal density. The two largest cubes have lightly bruised corners, otherwise the rest of pyrites are nearly pristine. The few broken quartz points are very minimally detracting. This is a signficant, large and important pyrite combination from the Mundo Nuevo Mine. MINDAT does list pyrite for the locale, but no photos are shown in the mine photo gallery. Valued at $2500-3000 for size, quality and rarity. 2237 grams or 4.9 pounds mass.
