Large Pyrite - old classic locale (Chet Lemanski Coll.)

Mirror-bright, striated, brass-yellow pyrite cubes are very aesthetically clustered on this sculptural, large mounded specimen from the famous Shangbao Mine - famous for fluorite but ACTUALLY famous first in the 1990s for its pyrite (a little known fact anymore). These are really rare today and among the sharpest in the world, but mistaken as Peruvian material in some cases. The impressive large cube is 5.6 x 4.6 x 4.5 cm. This is a VERY LARGE pyrite cube for the locale. Complete all-around, with only trivial edge wear to the cubes. The basal periphery wear is concentrated out-of-sight on the back of this very showy high quality piece. Chinese pyrites of this quality are rare and Shangbao pyrites could hold their own with good Peruvian examples. See the 2012 Mineralogical Record China-IV Special Issue, Vol. 43, No.5.
