Large purple Luna Agate slab

Dramatically colorful and sculptural large polished agate slab from Mexico! The beautiful rich lavender/purple color is due to manganese. The myriad of spherules of white agate or an unknown mineral add a surreal visual aspect to the slab. They look like stars in a galaxy. Close examination of the slab reveals the striking radial growth of the lavender agate around the white spherules. Called Luna Agate, the name was inspired by the space race as its patterns reminded miners of the moon. The striking shape on either edge looks like an angel fish with an open mouth! And the piece glows with purple hues, when back lit. In super shape, overall, the front is essentially pristine with only a bit of bruising on the edges. A few cracks on the back have been reinforced with epoxy glue. This exotic large, richly colored agate slab was recently offered at a large auction with an estimated value of $650-850 (see photo of label). Mass is 766 grams or 1.7 pounds. It displays fantastically from either edge.
