Item Description

An impressive, large, sharp and rare pollucite crystal from Pakistan. Pollucite is a Zeolite Group species, the Cs-analogue to Analcime and has similar shape. Sharp trapezohedrons, such as this exceptional example are RARE, as most specimens are massive. And - it is is highly unusual Zeolite mineral, as most specimens occur in pegmatites rather than volcanic rocks, as do most Zeolites. Three sides and the top of the glassy, translucent, colorless crystal with satin lustre have very sharp faces and a crackly interior. The back of the crystal reveals a striking surprise. Etching shows, that there are two generations of pollucite in this outstanding large specimen. It is also one of the few facetable Zeolite Group species, as it has a hardness of 6.5. It is also fluorescent. A RARE LARGE sharp Shigar Valley pollucite from the Herb Obodda dealer stock. SELDOM on the market in this size and quality. Valued at $2500-3000.
