Item Description

A RARE and sculptural large Mohawkite and Copper combination nugget from the famous and extinct Type Locality. One face of the two-sided piece is mohawkite, a rare mixture of algodonite, domeykite and arsenic-rich copper (and possibly further species) (MINDAT). The brightly polished surface of the mohawkite nugget has a bright coppery-silvery-bronzy hue. The other side reveals that most of the piece is massive copper with a fine patina. The RARE embedded green epidote on the copper is a fine accessory and contrast. The piece displays well without aid. Ex Bill and Anne Cook Collection, major Cleveland, Ohio collectors and dealers.
