Item Description
Fantastically colorful and dramatically sculptural large polished slab of Noreena 'Jasper' from Western Australia. The striking boxwork segments with stunning multi-hued color are surreal. The sharp form of the slab adds even more appeal. Noreena 'jasper' is a marketing term for a colourful silicified pelite (mudstone) (MINDAT). The piece is not actually jasper, which is a variety of chalcedony usually including abundant inclusions of hematite, iron hydroxides and other minerals. Chalcedony is a variety of quartz. Ex Dr. Vasco Trancoso Collection and illustrated in the MINDAT Photo Gallery for the locale. He is a prominent Portugal collector and doctor near Lisbon. He collected for 60 years and built a fine worldwide display collection, that we recently purchased in Europe. A stunning large specimen from locale. Mass is 1116 grams or 2.5 pounds.
