A classic, impressive, large and stout tabular hexagonal "poker chip" calcite crystal from the famous polymetallic skarn mines at Charcas - one of the most iconic styles of all calcite crystals and immediately recognizable! Strikingly, the frontal face of the translucent crystal has a porcelaneous texture while the sharp edge faces are very glassy and lustrous with some transparent areas! The 5.3 cm side car embedded on the top is a fine accessory. Chacas is well-known for this calcite style, as well as world-class Danburite, Nifontovite (a rare borate) and Datolite specimens. From the very well-known Mary & Gardner Miller Calcite Collection, # 3355, sold in the 1990s to Herb Obodda. Later, to the Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020.
