Large old cubic Fluorite plate (fluorescent)

An impressive, huge, old-time and weirdly colored fluorite plate from Melchor Muquiz, a well-known Mexican fluorite locality. Large, intergrown, strikingly stepped-growth fluorite cubes to 8.8 cm comprise this piece. The lustrous, translucent cubes with frosted faces are a very weird greenish-gray and have striking contrasting purple highlights along the edges. Old-time, rare material probably dating to the 1950s or 60s. Nearly pristine, with only a bit of periphery wear, rare for such a large specimen. Bright purple fluorescence. Mass is 15.2 pounds or 6.9 kilos.
