Large Okenite, Quartz & Calcite

Item Description

A spectacular large combination specimen from the famous and extinct Malad Quarry at Mumbai. Striking "puffballs" of very soft to the touch okenite needles aesthetically and richly line the deep interior of this dramatic elongated vug in basalt matrix. The floor and ceiling of the vug are lined with spherical aggregates of sparkly, tiny quartz points. A 2.0 cm, typical for the locale, sharp, gem, brown calcite rhomb is a fine accent. Urban sprawl closed this quarry around 1990. Classic and exceptional large combination material. 6.0 pounds or 2.7 kilos mass.
