Item Description

Spherical clusters of lustrous, brassy, acicular millerite crystals cover this huge and impressive large carpet from this well-known and long extinct open pit Canadian nickel mine. The tiered section of millerites on one side adds 3-dimensionality and character to this very rich large piece. Trivial bruising is certainly a very minimal detraction to this specimen. Specimens such as this were recovered in a mid-1990s collecting effort by Mary Lewardny This is one of the largest specimens of which we are aware! 1239 grams or 2.7 pounds mass. From the worldwide mineral collection of well-known geologist and author, Demetrius Pohl No. 1168. An exceptionally large and rich millerite specimen from the locale. Valued $2500-plus.
