Large matrix DT Calcite twin (Whitmore Coll.)

Sculptural large matrix calcite specimens from the famous Elmwood Mine are uncommon and this is an imprssive example from the Rober Whitmore Collection. A 12.7 cm doubly terminated and twinned crystal with two opposing scalenohedrons are dramatically set on the very artistic matrix of sparkly silicified limestone. The large calcite has beautiful gem terminations and classic and desirable golden-amber highlights. The large gem termination and both scalenohedron tips are nearly pristine, with only trivial, barley noticeable edge wear. The bit of barite on the right side adds contrast. Choice and uncommon older 1980s matrix calcite. Valued at $1250-1500.
