Item Description
A bizarre, unearthly looking large globular/botryoidal coated manganoan calcite specimen from the famed Broken Hill deposit. Matte pastel-pink and gray coatings cover much of this fantastic looking 360-degree caverous specimen. SW and LW UV light stunningly reveals the classic orange-red fluorescence of the uncoated patches of gray translucent manganoan calcite. A vuggy area on one side hosts intensely sparkly tiny pyrite crystals as a nice accessory. This very strange looking calcite is complete all-around and esentially pristine. Undoubtedly old-time material, but no proof. Ex Milton Lavers Collection - a major collection sold a few years ago in Australia. A UNIQUE, surreal looking large manganoan calcite from Broken Hill, a true old classic! Never seen another like it. A must for the species or locality collector!
