Large Manganoan Calcite (fluorescent!)

Shocking neon orange-pink fluorescence is a highlight of this dramatic, large manganoan calcite scalenohedron from the famous Casapalca Mine of Peru. The striking pastel-pink, three-sided spearpoint has very sharp edges with interesting moderately lustrous, rippled and frosted faces to the translucent crystal. The iron oxide dusting and striking clusters of tiny, sparkly pyritohedrons add color contrast and pizzazz to this fine large calcite. A fascinating, very large for the locale 360-degree manganoan calcite, that is nearly pristine, with only one spot of side wear. Sphalerite sections are embedded in the base. Crystals over 10 cm are rare.
