Large Magnesite (Rolando Gioia Coll.)

Item Description

An impressive and aesthetic large specimen from Brumado featuring well-formed, very glassy, translucent rhombs of off-white colored magnesite measuring up to 4.0 cm across which have formed into a rarely seen three-dimensional specimen of this well-known material. The piece is crystallized all the way around. From the collection of Rolando Gioia (a contributor to the recent 2009 definitive book on Brazilian minerals: "Minerais e Pedras Preciosas do Brasil"). These crystals are among the world's best for the species, from this locale and this is a very fine large example.
