Densely intergrown, very glassy, transparent to translucent rhombs of off-white colored magnesite measuring up to 1.5 cm across have formed a rarely seen large, sculptural, three-dimensional specimen of this well-known material. The piece is solid magnesite. From the collection of Rolando Gioia (a contributor to the recent 2009 definitive book on Brazilian minerals: "Minerais e Pedras Preciosas do Brasil"). These Brumado crystals are among the world's best for the species. This very fine and impressive large example is essentially pristine.
