Item Description
Ludlockite, a very rare complex Pb-Fe-As oxide is a signature Holy Grail rare species, for which the famed Tsumeb Mine is the Type Locality. It was discovered in 1968 and formally named in 1972. Ludlockite is named after Charlie Locke Key and his partner Rick Ludlow Smith, who discovered the mineral. This is a BIG, RARE, 2.4 x 2.4 x 2.0 cm, rich mounded ball-like matte of orange fibers from the second find in the 1980s in the deep 44 Level in the third oxidation zone at Tsumeb. The ludlockite is embedded on sculptural matrix of hefty germanite ore. VERY RARE, outstanding and desirable large ludlockite in combination with germanite. Valued at $2500 and worth it.
