large Hematite-tinted Calcite knob (old - classic locale)

Item Description

An impressive, classic and rare style large 360-degree knob totally covered with lustrous hematite-tinted dogtooth calcite rhombs from the famous West Camp of Santa Eulalia. The "teeth" reach about 1.8 cm on this striking and fascinating large club-like piece. The crystals are much larger on the front, than the back, indicating interesting directional fluid flow. Complete all-around an essentially pristine, for all the myriad of crystals, with only very few broken crystals. Calcites of this varietal were very common from the 1950s to 1990s in the West Camp, BUT large 360-degree knobs of this quality were VERY RARE. This dramatic large older piece probably dates to the 1960s or 70s. Ex Gary Weaver Collection.
