Item Description
A HUGE, impressive and densely studded large triangular calcite plate from this well-known mine at Santa Eulalia. The dramatic and colorful dogtooth scalenohedrons, strikingly doubly terminated on the edges, reach a large 6.7 cm. The crystals feature several generations of growth. The first scalenohedrons were coated by reddish-brown iron oxides followed by lustrous, translucent, light brown calcite overgrowths. Some of these secondary overgrowth have striking interior phantoms, which really add pizzazz. This is a classic and desirable calcite form from Santa Eulalia. An outstanding, very large and essentially pristine example of this varietal from the Tom Wolfe Calcite Collection. It has multiple super display views. 12.8 pounds or 5.8 kilos mass.
