Item Description
This impressive and colorful large plate is festooned with glassy, rich brick-red hematite-coated quartz crystals, to about 3.2 cm. Nearly all of the crystals are tilted or angled, enhancing the character of the piece. This obscure locale, Pella, is in the vicinity of the much better known and more prolific Orange River area of South Africa. Specimens from here are RARE. Mass is 2200 grams or 4.8 pounds. Ex Collin and Helga Owen Collection of South Africa. RARE, rich and colorful large quartz from the less well-known locale.
