Item Description
Heliodor is the golden yellow gem variety of beryl and this is an incredibly large polished slice of variable thickness from the famous Ruggles Mine of New Hampshire. The color is spot-on as rich golden yellow and sections of the slice are very gemmy. The dark banding adds character. Six sides of this hexagonal giant are apparent, although the base is broken. Mass is 512 grams or over 1.1 pounds. The Ruggles Mine was the first commercial mica quarry in U.S. (about 1805). Ex Robert Whitmore Collection.
