Large Gypsum with "hourglass" sand inclusions (Lobell Coll.)

Item Description

Several of the gypsum crystals on this impressive and sculptural large two-sided specimen have the classic "hour-glass" sand inclusions, for which the locality is renowned for. Hard to see, but the large angled 7.7 cm doubly terminated crystal has the "hour-glass" form, as does the upright 4.5 cm crystal on this striking jackstraw cluster. A bonus is the bottom, which is composed of a myriad of tiny sand included crystals. All of the topside crystals are pristine. Essentially pristine, with only trivial periphery wear. It is almost impossible to get a completely pristine specimen of this size and quality with "hour-glass" crystals. Ex Joe Lobell Collection.
