Item Description

A tall, gemmy and impressive stout gypsum crystal from Naica. It is glass-clear and pristine with a sharp termination, uncommon for such a soft species (2 on the Mohs hardness scale). The crystal is richly peppered with sprays of tiny gypsum crystals and the crystal is slightly bent, adding even more character to this fine large example from the Taylor Hunt Collection. A few small bruises, but overall in good shape. Naica is renowned for world-class gypsum specimens, which includes the old "Cave of Swords" and the fabulous 2000 find of the "Crystal Cave" with the world's largest gypsum crystals, up to 14 meters in length!
