Item Description
A striking, large and unusual calcite form from Charcas, renowned for pokerchip calcite crystals. Calcite scalenohedrons are uncommon from Charcas. Both crystals in this dramatic, glassy and translucent crystal set have very distinctive elongated zones of gray goethite inclusions, that look like reverse skunk stripes! One face also has striking stepped-growth faces and a contact with trivial bruising. Complete all-around and nearly pristine. A trivial bit of bruising and contacting is noted on back termination faces and edges and just a bit of brusing is noted to the sidecar crystal. Ex D. Shultz Collection and was photographed for a future Charcas article in a Mineralogical Record Mexico Special issue. Valued at $1800 on an older label showing this collector paid $1100 for it
