Large gemmy Topaz (Larry Krause Coll.)

An impressive, large, water-clear, colorless, topaz crystal from Teofilo Otoni, Brazil. The complete all-around crystal has a textbook, fat, chisel termination. This striking crystal has several distinctive characteristics: some faces are preferentially glassy, water-clear; some are striated; some are etched; and the nifty internal crazing gives totally different looks from every side, plus interior "rainbow" effects with good light. Periphery wear on the lower front and a couple of dings on the back are noted. So it is not perfect on close inspection though it looks impressive. Irregardless, this remains a large, highly representative and gemmy Brazilian topaz from a noted locale. Ex Larry Krause Collection. Hefty at 488 grams or over 1 pound! MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!
