Item Description
Wow! This is certainly the largest and most impressive doubly terminated, gemmy, matrix, Elmwood calcites we have offered at auction. The architecture of this huge 21.0 cm crystal attached to the striking, brecciated, silicified limestone marix and the beautifully accenting, 7.7 cm, doubly terminated, fishtail-twinned crystal is breathtaking. The gemmy termination is the glorious and desirable, rich golden-amber. Thats a bit of creamy barite on one side. For the impressive size, the modest bit of bruising and the barely noticeable gentle cleave to the golden termination, is certainly not a detraction to the overall dramatic impact of this monster. It displays beautifully from either side without aid. This was found in the early days of the late 70s or 80s, and was long in the Elmwood collection of dealers Consie and Dalton Prince of Houston, Texas. While not quite pristine, it is nearly complete, extremely impressive and 3-dimensional. It displays like a million bucks and is very impactful in person, exemplified by the gemmy, rich golden-amber termination. 6.2 pounds or 2.8 kilos.
