Item Description
RARE and dramatic large matrix galena from this old lead mine, started in 1760 (MINDAT)! A striking mounded cluster of sharp, lustrous battleship-gray galena cuboctahdrons, to 3.3 cm, are dramatically set atop the large sculptural, partially oxide-coated matrix. An exceptional and rare two-sided rib from the "Boundary Pocket" of the Boundary Cross vein of the Barneycraig Mine, where specimens of any species are quite rare. This outstanding large galena is illustrated in the MINDAT locality Photo Gallery with a September 5, 2018 photo by Dr. Stephen Moreton. The piece was collected in 2002. Value?? Unique galena.
