A sharp, large, 4.3 x 4.3 x 4.0 cm, franklinite crystal is jauntily set atop blocky matrix of massive calcite, franklinite crystal sections and massive franklinite. The textbook, octahedral black crystal has fine luster. Bruising is noted on three corners, but is certainly only a modest detraction. The calcite fluoresceses orange-red and the spots of willemite green. Classic, significant, and excellent three-sided combination material from the famous mines of the Franklin District of New Jersey. Ex Art Smith Collection and acquired in 1978. Valued at $1200 and worth it. It displays very well without aid.
