Item Description
Impressive, large old-time fluorite and rhodochrosite from Colorado's famous Sunnyside Mine. The intergrown fluorite matrix is richly covered on all sides with pastel-pink microcrystalline rhodochrosite. The lustrous, glassy, translucent to transparent fluorite crystals are mostly grayish-green with some mint-green crystals. The smaller fluorites are cubes, with cuboctahedrons and octahedrons noted on the larger crystals. The large mint-green octahedron is 3.0 cm. Purple fluorescence. Formerly in the H. Sering, Edna Doughty and Eugene Sensel Collections. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 2001. Classic and rich large old-time combination material from the locale.
