Item Description
RARE, sculptural large fluorite from an obscure mine in the ancient Lavrion District. A striking 6.0 cm fluorite crystal lined vug is adjacent to a dramatic large vug. And there are more cubes on the top or bottom of the piece. The glassy cubes, to 1.5 cm have satin lustre faces and beautifully vary from lavender in the large vug, to sea-green in the small vug, to violet on the top and some cubes have pretty edge phantoms. Purple fluorescence. Hefty at 8.6 pounds or 3.9 kilos. MINDAT lists numerous species for the locale, but there are no examples in the Photo Gallery.
