Item Description

An impressive, highly unusual and sculptural large combination from this famous locale. The striking dense field of hematite-tinted, dogtooth calcite rhombs is nearly totally covered with a second generation of tiny sparkly calcite rhombs. Purple fluorite then preferentially pseudomorphed the tips of the dogtooth calcite crystals. The underlying dogtooth crystals have a faint rich red fluorescence. BUT, unusually for this piece, the second generation calcite and fluorite fluoresce straw-yellow. Similar West Camp pieces we have seen have purple fluorite and bright neon-orange calcite fluorescence! Weird and fascinating. Valued at $1500 for size and unique quality. Ex James Zigras Mexico Collection.
