LARGE Fluorite on Quartz (ex Raul Sanabria Orellana Collection)

A truly striking and impressive large cabinet display specimen from the famous La Viesca Mine, which has been the source of some truly beautiful Fluorite specimens of any locality in Asturias. The piece is loaded with many excellent, sharp, lustrous, gemmy rich purple crystals of Fluorite measuring up to 2.5 cm on edge showing a predominantly cubic habit with thin dodecahedral modifications on the edges sitting on a layer of crystallized slightly smoky colored Quartz on host rock matrix. The Fluorites, when backlit show beautiful internal "phantoms" with varying hues of purple. For a specimen of this size, the piece is in remarkably good shape, with very little damage. The majority of the Fluorites are undamaged. There are not many localities around the world that produce such impressive pieces of Fluorite like this with a full coverage of fine quality crystals sitting on a layer of pleasing crystallized Quartz, and you'd be hard-pressed to find another one of this calibre on the market today. It's important to mention that a lot of the Fluorites from this locality featuring a dense coverage of intergrown Fluorite cubes, but this one has distinct separation between some of the crystals, giving the piece more character and visual appeal. A truly remarkable and significant specimen from this classic Spanish locale.
