Large Fluorite (2 generations - rare 2016 find)

A colorful, rich and impressive large two-generation fluorite on quartz combination plate from a small 2016 find at a very obscure locality in Zhejiang Province, China. Rich emerald-green, gemmy, gorgeous fluorite octahedrons, to 3.5 cm on edge, cover the striking layered needle quartz matrix. The octos remind me of outstanding emerald-green fluorites from Riemasvaak, South Africa. The emerald-green hue is even richer on this fine piece and the octos glow, when back lit. This piece has far fewer of the secondary overgrowths of variable purplish-gray, frosted, stepped-growth cuboctahedrons, than most pieces in the lot. AND, exceptionally, some of the octo faces are enhanced by skeletal features, adding pizzazz. Rich purple fluorescence. The bit of noted periphery wear is certainly only a modest detraction. A fine large rich and uncommon style plate from the limited find.
