Item Description

Colorful, impressive and RARE large fluorapatite crystal from this well-known extinct Quebec locale, that formerly produced Phlogopite, Fluorite and uranium minerals, in addition to the outstanding fluorapatite crystals. The sharply terminated, lustrous, textbook hexagonal crystal is partially translucent with typical variegated areas of green and mottled brown hues. The striking rich green of the termination is more translucent and adds much character. Complete all-around, the colorful termination is pristine. Modest prism face contacting and the attachment at the base are certainly only minimal detraction to the overall high quality of this large specimen. See the 1981 Mineralogical Record article on the locale in Vol. 12, No. 6. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in 1984. Specimens of this size and quality are RARE and are seldom on the market today - in fact, this is the first good one we have had in 20 years. Mass is 944 grams or 2.1 pounds.
