Spinels of this huge size are RARE from Mogok. The impressive floater octahedron has textbook form, a nifty fishtail termination, high luster, limited translucency and very interesting, banded, mottled-brown color. Complete all-around and in great shape. Trivial to moderate bruising is noted on three corners and to one of the termination tips. The contacting on the basal termination is out-of-sight. An exceptionally large and excellent example of the species and locale. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock. Valued by Herb at $1000, more than five years ago, it is worth more today. 376 grams or over 0.8 pounds mass.
