Item Description
A classic, LARGE CABINET, fishtail-twinned calcite crystal from the famous Joplin Field and the George Feist Collection # 2735. This dramatic, old-time cluster is very glassy, transparent to translucent and has beautiful amber color. The crystal faces have pronounced stepped-growth, which adds character. Complete all-around, the twin is very nearly pristine, with only very trivial termination edgewear. The cleave at the base of the sidecar crystal and main crystal are noted, but are very modest detractions to the overall quality. A very fine, large and highly representative example of the species and historic locale. Valued at $1500 or more. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!!. THESE ARE VERY RARE ON THE MARKET NOW, SEEN ONLY IN A FEW OLD COLLECTIONS, AND ARE TRUE MIDWEST CLASSICS FROM THE TI-STATE MINING HEYDAY (1930s-1950s)
