Item Description
Wow! A huge, doubly terminated emerald from the famous Muzo Mine. This impressive glassy and lustrous crystal has rich green color with lightly frosted and etched faces. It is highly translucent and has rich areas of gemminess, especially the top 6 mm of the crystal and some of the sides. You can see the included shale particles. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only a trivial bit of basal bruising. The basal termination is broken and healed. The contacting on the front and the striking contacting on the back have no damage, per se. While not of cuttable gem quality (the price would be ridiculous, if it was), this is a significant, very large Muzo emerald and would be a fine, large emerald addition to a collection. A definite "spiker" to this auction. 40 grams or 200 carats. Valued at $2500
