Large DT Herkimer Quartz diamond (Whitmore Coll.)

Item Description

These Herkimer quartz "diamonds" are some of the most well-known quartz specimens in the world. This is fine large specimen of a sharp, water-clear, doubly-terminated crystal with intense internal crazing, which adds character. The crystal looks like a faceted gemstone and does include some bitumen in the base. Essentially a floater and in very good shape. The large contact on the back, where another crystal lay, has no damage per se. One termination is very gently bruised, while the other has a cleave on the back edge. A small, out of sight chip on the base is also noted. Classic older large material from the Robert Whitmore Collection. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!
