Item Description
Dramatic, large, 360-degree doubly terminated gypsum from the famous mines at Naica. This impressive transparent with silky luster faces crystal hosts two dramatically different terminations. The primary termination has the classic steeply sloping form, while the other has striking stepped growth. Both ends and all faces show the typical layering of gypsum crystals and the orange iron oxide incluions on the stepped-growth end at pizzazz. The major SURPRISE in the interior is the sharp large oxide-included gypsum crystal phantom with the same form of the enclosing colorless crystal. AMAZINGLY, for such a soft mineral, this exceptional gypsum is essentially pristine, with only a trivial bit of scuffing to an edge on the stepped-growth end. The two contacts on the front, where other crystals once lay is the attachment, but there is no damage, per se. Older material from an East Coast collection. Value of such a fine rare style large Naica gypsum? We feel $750-1000 is very fair.
