Item Description
An impressive, large, textbook fluorapatite crystal from Nagar. The doubly terminated floater crystal has classic hexagonal form. The translucent, lustrous body is gray. The gemmier, light gray to colorless terminations are a nifty accent. Three of the sides are very glassy and smooth, with the other three sides being frosted &/or etched. Interesting chemistry here. One frosted/etched face has three included rutile needles, to 2.0 cm, adding character. Complete all-around and in great shape. A modest bit of bruising is noted to three edges/corners, but certainly have minimal impact to the overall high quality of this large Nagar apatite. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 1965. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Typical yellow fluorescence.
